Windermere
"It's more than a home.
It's where your story is written"
Windermere, a quaint town situated amidst the Butler Chain of Lakes, is rapidly becoming one of the most sought-after real estate markets in Florida and the Southeast. With Lake Butler to the west, Lake Down to the east, and Lake Bessie to the southeast, Windermere is a lush peninsula that boasts numerous homes situated along the shoreline. As a result, it comes as no surprise that the surrounding region, including Windermere, is home to some of the most exclusive new communities in Central Florida, which attract a variety of individuals such as entrepreneurs, businesspeople, and athletes.
Interestingly, Windermere's founding can be traced back to Joseph Hill Scott, an early investor who was captivated by the area's picturesque lakes. His son, Stanley, later homesteaded the land, and named it after England's Lake Windermere. The town remained relatively unchanged until 1910, when two Ohio investors, D.H. Johnson and J. Calvin Palmer, acquired as much land as they could, and founded the Windermere Improvement Company to develop it.
